Anemia is a common ill-health status in humans although many people neither know what it means and what causes it. Hello,

Anemia is one of the most common health issues of pregnancy as during pregnancy body needs more Iron, Vitamin B and Folic acid.

What is Anemia:

If you're anemic, that means you have less red blood cells or the cells are very small, red blood cells carry oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your blood

Types of Anemia:

There are Different types of Anemia like:

Anemia caused by deficiency of Iron.
Anemia caused by deficiency of Folate/folic acid
Anemia caused by deficiency of Vitamin B12.

Effects of each anemia is different during pregnancy.

When the risk is higher to become Anemic during pregnancy:

Time gap between two pregnancies is very less.
Serious morning sickness during pregnancy.
Pregnant with twins or multiples.
Poor diet.
Pregnancy during teenage.

Anemia can cause serious health issues to mother and fetus.

Effects of Anemia during pregnancy on Baby:

Baby may have some serious birth defects of brain and spine as, fetus is not getting adequate nutrition and blood oxygen.

Preterm and under weight baby

Anemic Baby

Baby may develop motor-skills late then other kids

Baby may have developmental health issues like learning disabilities.

When mother is anemic during pregnancy baby can develop Asthma at very early age.

Effects of Anemia during pregnancy on Mother:

Preterm delivery

If Mother loose more blood during delivery she may die.

Treatment of Anemia during pregnancy.

As the common reason and type of anemia during pregnancy is low level of Iron, folic acid and vitamin B so, Take balance diet from the day when you are planning for pregnancy to avoid any chances of Anemia.

In case you already have Anemia go to your doctor and find out the type of Anemia you are having and causes of it.

Proper medication of Anemia is must to avoid future health issues of mother as well as baby.
