When it comes to our daily morning routine, there can hardly be a few putting any extra thought on it. It's primarily because this has been a practice ever since we were kids. Brushing your teeth is also a vital part of the daily morning chores. And guess we all follow the same pattern on everyday basis. However; if you have ever experienced gum problems or cavity issues, this might possibly be due to your wrong brushing habits. Surprised? Well, this is the fact stated by expert dentists worldwide. Brushing teeth in the wrong manner can lead to major tooth and gum problems. Here check out the common mistakes and review your brushing habits before it's too late:
You may feel like buying any random toothbrush that you come across in a shopping mall. Or there might be some who prefer going with the color choices. But is it the right way? Certainly not. Dentists suggest that you should get a toothbrush which is comfortable and doesn't injure your mouth. Go for small or medium sized toothbrush. Look for the toothbrush handle as well, it should be bit flexible. The bristles should be soft and not too hard.
If you clean the outer surface of teeth very cautiously but neglect the inner surface, things can get very dangerous. The plaque which accumulates on the outer area, gathers on the inner side too. Therefore, it is very important that you clean both surfaces.
Most of us store our toothbrushes in the bathroom. This way we end up exposing them to humid and a germ-filled environment. Ensure that you don't keep them at damp places as there they can easily come in contact with disease causing bacterias. Always remember to rinse your brush before and after use.
As per American Dental Association, you must change your toothbrush in every 3-4 months. Using a toothbrush for longer duration can save you some money but it will cost big time to cover up the loss you are likely to encounter ahead.
