Whenever a mother gives birth to a baby the happiness which can be seen on the faces of the parents at that time is simply impossible to express in words. A child is considered to be the greatest gifts of god to any couple. A baby is the pearl of every eye including all the relatives from both sides. He gets unconditional love and care from everyone especially his parents.
Now what to do if amidst all this the parents observe that their toddler is experiencing a speech problem? The problem of delayed speech has become common and most of the babies now days are experiencing it. Instead of getting too upset about the issue parents should try to sort out the issue in a calm manner. On the other hand the issue should not be taken very casually by the parents of such a toddler.
It is the core desire of every couple to hear their toddler utter his first word. Do you feel that your kid is not speaking even though he is old enough to talk by now? Well most of the experts believe that babies who talk late are able to catch up sentences as well as words faster as compared to others. Many kids are believed to be late talkers and majority of them start talking without any kind of external help. Generally most of the kids start speaking small words when they are about a year old and word combinations at around the age of 2 years. But you cannot say that your toddler necessarily has some speech problem if she has not started talking till around two years of age. The understanding capacity of a child is taken care of by the speech therapist and he begins by teaching your toddler small words by breaking them into sounds. If your child now makes little gestures and follows them as well it means that your baby has now started to communicate and understand things. As parents you should devote a little time with your kid and make him repeat whatever you have said. This problem in kids is not something to be worried about.
What can you do if your baby has not started talking yet?
The first step that you should take is taking some time out for your toddler. Play different kinds of games with your kid and make an effort towards making her speak. It should be checked whether there is any kind of language problem or ear infection that your baby has. Try to develop your toddler’s interest in singing and sing along with her.
Toy phones are another useful way of encouraging your kid to speak. Not many questions should be asked while encouraging your baby to talk as the child may get a little irritated and may even stop making an effort altogether. Too much of television always proves to be harmful for your toddler.
Many babies experience speech problem in the initial stages but after a period of time they speak fluently without taking any outside help. However there are some reasons behind the delayed talking of your baby which the parents should make an attempt to understand. If you are really concerned about the delayed speech of your kid then it is advisable to visit your pediatrician.
