The other name for Conjunctivitis is pink eye or red eye that makes the transparent part of eye pink or red. The disease is caused due to some virus, allergen or bacteria that turn white membrane of eye into pink or red. Here are the three main reasons for Conjunctivitis that causes infection in the eye of your child.
The first reason for Conjunctivitis is bacteria that release a thick yellow substance in the eye. There are several bacteria that cause this problem. The second reason for Conjunctivitis is viral in which Conjunctivitis is associated with several other problems like cold and fever. The last reason for Conjunctivitis is allergens that develop due to irritants, smoke and animals. The babies under one year are safe from allergens and harmful bacteria.
Conjunctivitis is a contagious disease but it does not spread by simply staring the other person. Bacteria can enter into your body when you use the handkerchief, towel or cushion of the infected person. Every time when patient wipes his eyes, bacteria are transferred to his hands also. It is always recommended that patient should wash his hands properly, every time he wipes his eyes.
