Anemia is a common ill-health status in humans although many people neither know what it means and what causes it. The condition is developed when there is a lack of red blood cells which function primarily to carry oxygen to the cells of the body. When the body cells are deprived of oxygen, this can lead to unusual tiredness. This condition can affect both men and women but the situation becomes even more pronounced in pregnant women.

Anemia is one of the most common health issues of pregnancy as during pregnancy body needs more Iron, Vitamin B and Folic acid.

What is Anemia:

If you're anemic, that means you have less red blood cells or the cells are very small, red blood cells carry oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your blood

Types of Anemia:

There are Different types of Anemia like:

Anemia caused by deficiency of Iron.
Anemia caused by deficiency of Folate/folic acid
Anemia caused by deficiency of Vitamin B12.

Effects of each anemia is different during pregnancy.

When the risk is higher to become Anemic during pregnancy:

Time gap between two pregnancies is very less.
Serious morning sickness during pregnancy.
Pregnant with twins or multiples.
Poor diet.
Pregnancy during teenage.

Anemia can cause serious health issues to mother and fetus.

Effects of Anemia during pregnancy on Baby:

Baby may have some serious birth defects of brain and spine as, fetus is not getting adequate nutrition and blood oxygen.

Baby may develop motor-skills late then other kids

Baby may have developmental health issues like learning disabilities.
