Nanak's father is quite idealistic, abstract and heady, whereas the Nanak relies basically on the instinct, intuitions and inner gut feelings. Nanak's father is often baffled by Nanak's passions, insane loves and hates, and intensely emotional responses. This is because Nanak's father rational and cerebral. The two never succeed in building a long-term relation because of their differences in thinking and behavior. Nanak longs for emotional support and attention while Nanak's father fails to provide the same as freedom is more important to an Nanak's father.
