Menopausal stage is the stage in a woman’s life when she is not anymore capable of bearing a child inside her womb. This is because her menstruation has stopped and a woman at this stage is no longer productive. Conception is nearly impossible once the woman reaches menopause. However, in some cases, it turns out to be possible. This happens when there is a hormonal imbalance in the woman’s body.
What is Menopause?
It is the sudden change in the hormones of the woman resulting in the end of menstrual period due to which the woman stands no more able to conceive a child. This is because the hormone that helps in the ovulation and maternity are not active anymore. The supply of estrogen and progesterone declines. However, the menopausal stage takes time to complete, and sometimes due to hormonal imbalance, a woman is able to conceive a child.

However, women at the age of forties or fifties are not allowed to take contraceptive pills due to health reasons because they may have a side effect. Conception at the period of menopause entails greater risk for the fetus inside the mother’s womb. These include infections, embolisms and even bleeding or hemorrhage. Hypertension, strokes and seizures are also the underlying risk to the child’s health that may develop or occur during pregnancy in the menopausal stage. Children born during the menopausal stage might have Down’s syndrome, and autism.
