Lactose intolerance in newborn babies

Lactose in infants may cause him to be in pain while he/she is unable to digest lactose. Lactose is present in cow’s milk and other dairy products which is a primary sugar. Usually body have enzyme called lactase which helps top digest milk. But if your body does not produce lactase you are not able to digest milk and indigested milk causes gastrointestinal problems. This triggers pain in baby stomach.  Premature babies may face problem to produce lactase, but in baby’s normally lactase increases at the end of last trimester of pregnancy. Lactose intolerance can be easily identifies with diarrhea, tummy pain, gas, bloating, frothy acidic stools. Lactose intolerance damages stomach lining due to mixing breast milk with other type of  formula, use of antibiotics, consumption of food to which your baby is allergic, early consumption of solid s by baby.
In such a case allow the baby’s stomach to heal, in case your baby is less than 3 month he/she will take 8 week to heal but generally it is 4 weeks. In such a case give one kind of milk, if you are breastfeeding your child does continue to feed. You can also give your child soy milk, cow’s milk as alternative.
