Newborns and sneezing problem

The air that we breathe has lots of pollution, dirt, fumes that may irritate baby so they end up in voluntary action of sneezing. There’s nothing to worry about. Dry Air, Influenza or Colds, Enlarged Adenoids, Foreign bodies, Nasal Sprays, Allergy, Irritant in Air, Decongestant Sprays are some reason for sneezing in babies. There are several causes of sneezing in new born babies. These includes allergy to certain substances called seasonal allergy or allergic rhinitis due to pollens, wind, cigarette smoke, animal hair, insect bites which frequently disturbs baby’s nasal tract causing irritation and subsequently sneezing. Babies have very tiny nasal passage which prevents from natural dry out of nose especially during winters may cause noisy breathing, sneezing and nasal discharge.
Apart from this due to immature immune system sudden contraction in cold may also lead to sneezing, decongestants, nasal sprays also leads to nasal irritation by damaging delicate tissue of baby’s nose and sinuses. In case your baby gets cold see a doctor when you first notice symptoms of cough and cold so that you can save your child from secondary bacterial infection in later stage. Sneezing is absolutely fine with new born but in case of frequent cases of sneezing consult pediatrics.
