Yes proteins are necessary even after puberty because even if physical growth stops it is necessary for repair of the body & proper functioning.

in puberty there is growth spurt occurs so in this stage more protein require to fulfill the body needs, for this animal source of protein like meat , eggs, fish etc and vegetable source like beans , milk , cheese, pulses, should be taken in more amount, soya-bean has highest protein among the pulses.
