Everyone thinks that childhood is the best age and there is no tension in life, up to teenage, but today this statement is not appropriated as teenager are also suffering more stress due to various reasons. The reasons that cause stress in teenagers are homework, average performance in school, numerous activities without proper schedule, pressure from teacher, parents, and coaches in other activities, high expectation from parents and teachers, teenage love, illness, family problem, physical fitness, lack of self-confidence and many more.
As a responsible parent you should understand precise reason of stress in your child. If you find that your teenager is behaving abnormally or gets depressed more often, you should give your love and support and carefully understand his problem and try to solve it in positive manner.
Examination stress is one of the key reasons for stress in teenage. Some teenagers start exam preparation only before a few days of exams. In such case they get much tensed and fear the exam results. Mostly all students get anxious by thinking about exam result before start exams. This type of fear increases stress in their mind. Parent should spend good time every day with their teenager and know about their study progress. If they study regularly, it will surely reduce their exam fear. Try to increase self-confidence in your teenager and that will definitely reduce stress factor during examination.
Many parents expect more from their children. It is advisable that never pressurize your child to get higher score beyond his capacity or force him to pursue career in a particular field. Give liberty to your child to choose his career. You can give him good suggestions or explain intellectually for his wrong decision if any. Forcing teenager regarding the career or for getting higher score will increase stress and it may lead to low performance in exams.
Children get stress due to pressure from friends, family, teachers, coaches, etc. In such cases if parents high expectations from child will increase stress in his mind. Many parents expect their teen to be excellent in all activities and for that they force their children to participate in various extra curricular activities such as sports, music, dance, gym, swimming, etc. beyond his capacity. If you force him to do so, he gets stressed. You can advise him to join classes during his vacation period to reduce his stress.
Exercising or working out daily will keep your child fit physically and mentally. It also reduces stress of your teenager if any. Daily walking, running, swimming, yoga, aerobics or any other liking exercise will also increase physical stamina and self-confidence in your teenager. You should try to keep your child physical fit during his examination. Eating healthy food and regular exercise is very essential during teenage. Serve diet that should be rich of nutrients for his healthy growth. Healthy body and mind will affect less due to any type of stress.

Teenage is really a complicated period in which you really need to protect your child from any stress that causes depression. Understanding your child’s nature, capacity, physical strength and behavior are key factors that parents must know. If you nurture teenager with your adore and support and develop positive attitude in him, you never find any stress around him. Be a true friend rather than strict parent of your teenager.
